Plaza de la Constitución, Santiago
I was sitting there, enjoying myself, taking
in the location, having just (ironically) shot the previous photograph
of President Allende, when something strange happened. A moment prior,
I had seen some police talking a bit heatedly with a fellow who (I kid
you not) looked somewhat like Jesus. Near that, some protestors had
been carrying a banner with some protest written on it. The police
went over to them and ripped up the banner, causing an uproar. Dozens
of people from around the square started flooding into it, and many officers
flooded in as well. The mass of people in the middle are where I
had been sitting less than 1 minute before. I quickly exited, shot
this photo, and left the area. Chile, despite it's relative freedom,
still has it's problems confronting it's past.

This close up better shows the mass of people. I was sitting about
left of center. Some police are visible on the left side of the photo.
