Denali (Mt. McKinley), Denali National Park
Denali is the highest mountain in North America, at 20,300 feet.  It also has the greatest vertical relief in the world- in other words, to a human standing at the base, it is the tallest appearing mountain, even taller than Mt. Everest.  The base is at 1800 feet above sea level, making base-peak elevation gain 18,500 feet.  Denali is Athabascan for "The Great One."  It's only clearly visible like this about 20% of the time.
