Mt. Shasta, California
As you drive up in far northern California
on the Interstate, Mt. Shasta will eventually loom before you. It's
a very beautiful mountain, and is far from any major population center,
so I found it quite peaceful.
It is 14,162 feet tall (4350m), and is popular with mountain climbers
and has a ski park. Also, it's close to Lassen Volcanic National
Park, and Lava Beds National Monument, and if you hop over to the coast,
there are lots of redwood trees.
New Agers like this mountain as well. In 1987, they came here
for the harmonic convergence, which climaxed when a local resident turned
on her TV and saw an angelic vision on the screen. It later turned
out to be dust...

Mt. Shasta. The purple spot
shows approximately on Route 89 where I took this picture. I had
driven up from Lassen Volcanic to the southeast of here.
