World Trade Center Towers
In Memorial
On September 11, 2001, the United States, if not the World, changed. Over 3000 people were killed in less than two hours.
Two aircraft slammed into the two towers about 15 minutes apart. The North Tower was hit first, at about 8:55am, at about the 85th floor by a hijacked American Airlines jet. The South Tower was hit second at a lower level by a United Airlines jet. Because the South Tower was hit at a lower level, thus having more weight bearing on the damaged floors, it collapsed first at about 10:00am. The North Tower collapsed about 30 minutes later.
Meanwhile, 235 miles away, another American Airlines jet crashed into the Pentagon, and further away in Pennsylvania, the passengers of another jet, upon learning of the fate of the other three hijacked jets by use of air phones and cell phones, heroically took the jet down themselves to prevent a fourth tragedy.
I harbor no ill feelings towards Islam or Islamic nations. All religions have their extremists who warp their respective holy texts around their twisted beliefs. We in America have them, too (the KKK being one example). As long as you keep the expression of your views within limits, I have no problem. When you cross the boundary and infringe on the rights and lives of others, you enter a different world.
To those who did this: May you lose your freedom, even your very right to exist. You have achieved nothing useful.
To the families of those who died: May you find comfort in due time and may the deaths not be in vain. Perhaps, if the world can finally unite against this extremist idiocy, some good will come out of it. Or at least one can hope...
