Space Needle, Seattle, Washington
Another very nice area of the US is the
northwest- both Oregon and Washington. Seattle is one of those cities
that embodies a unique culture- and is the coffee capital of the United
States as well. For visitors to the US, I would recommend this area
for at least a week. Not only do you have Seattle itself, but you
have three national parks nearby, plus Mt. St. Helens, our recent volcano.
Just 3 hours away is Vancouver, British Columbia, and a boat ride away
is Victoria, Western Canada's most European-style city.
The Space Needle, conceived in 1959 by Edward E. Carlson, and opened
to the public in 1962 for the World Fair stands at 605 feet tall (about
190m). The view from the Space Needle is awesome- besides the view
of downtown, you can see the shipyards, and way to the south, you can see
Mt. Rainier.

Seattle. The purple spot shows
where this photo was taken- basically right smack in downtown Seattle.
It's not hard to find.
