St. Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, Australia direction of view
Next to Hyde Park is St. Mary's Cathedral.  Construction was started in 1868 to replace an earlier church that had burnt down.  St. Mary's is the mother church of the Australian Catholic church.  Interestingly, the pointy spires were only added in 2000, presumably to dress it up for the 2000 Olympics.
