Hotel Intercontinental, Bora Bora
The Hotel Intercontinental was a short distance south of our hotel, and much nicer (and of course, much more expensive). It had many more over-the-water bungalows, a common luxury here for hotels, plus many, many beachside rooms. We stayed here for a few hours, and had a drink to "pay" for our use of their beach. It was almost abandoned anyways, so it wasn't like we were crowding anyone out. I've heard that this hotel is rebuilding out on the outer ring, which is where Le Meridian is and a Ritz Carlton is being built. Apparently, it's just not exclusive enough to be on the tiny island- they need to be on the more remote outer ring (which would be nice, I have to admit- we visited it by boat, photos of which are in the other Bora Bora gallery).
