Bora Bora, Pirogue Tour
On another day in paradise, we took an all-day tour on a pirogue- a form of "dugout" canoe with a balance beam for stability. Of course the boats are no longer dugouts, but manufactured with an aluminum hull. The tour consisted of snorkeling, a picnic lunch on the outer ring island, shark feeding, stingray feeding, and lots of beautiful vistas as we did a complete circle around the island. This view is from the eastern side of Bora Bora from the ring island. We are more or less directly across from our hotel (which is a bit to the left in this picture). There is a nice beach out there, and our hosts (the boat captain and his assistant) cooked us a great picnic lunch of local delicacies, including sashimi marinated in coconut milk (not really cooked), and other various hot dish items.
