Bora Bora, Pirogue Tour
While our hosts were fixing lunch, which took almost an hour, we roamed around the ring island towards the open Pacific (Bora Bora main island is surrounded by a relatively placid and shallow turquoise lagoon). This was about as far as we made it, figuring we still had to get back in time for lunch. This rock seemed to be a lava flow, though I'm not sure as we were a ways from the main island. It could have been old coral reef as well. The distant island is Tahaa, off to the east. You can also see aerial shots of Tahaa in the
Tahiti
gallery.
