Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, New Zealand

Canterbury Museum is a great local museum of the Maori culture. There are skeletons of extinct birds, and a rich history of Maori settlement, and then settlement by Europeans later. There is also a section that details the explorations of Antarctica from the Christchurch base (US and New Zealand exploration of Antarctica are based here).
