Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Sydney
Sydney is one of the best cities in the world, in my opinion.  I immensely enjoyed the time I was there, and want to go back (so stay tuned to the web site).  And, this is my best shot from there.

The classic shots of the Opera House are from Mrs. Macqueries Point, in the Royal Botanical Gardens (see the map below).  You can drive your car out and park.  I recommend sunset, as I do for many grand man-made vistas.  Due to the evening lighting, and the colors of a fast fading sunset, you get a combination of lighting that can't be beat.  This was probably at least 30 minutes after sunset, and about a 15-second exposure.

The Opera House design was chosen from the trash heap in a contest held in the late 1950's.  The Danish architect Yoern Utzon, when awarded the design win, spent the next four years trying to figure out how to build it.  Once started, it went over-budget, and cost a government their job.  But, once finished, it's been the icon of Sydney ever since.  Unfortunately, during arguments with the government over funding and materials, the original architect walked away and has never seen the completed building

Downtown Sydney.  The photo above was taken from Mrs. Macquaries Point, in the Royal Botanical Gardens.  The Opera House is the pink square under the "P" in "Port Jackson," and the Harbour Bridge is the solid yellow line crossing the water.
