Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick
The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides on the planet- as much as 52 feet or 16 meters. The shape of the bay and Nova Scotia to the south serve as a natural amplifier for the tides as they come in. A full moon adds visible amplification to the tides- 20%. This extreme high tide to low tide barrage twice a day has created a beautiful coastline that sports cliffs, caves, and bizarre rock pillars topped with trees. This photo was taken just outside of the Bay of Fundy National Park in the town of Alma on Agfa Scala 200, a B&W slide film.
