Spear of Destiny, Völkerkunde Museum, Vienna, Austria
Back to Vienna for a moment, in the Völkerkunde Museum.  The spear is believed by many to be the one that pierced Jesus' side in the crucifixion- elevating it to level of the Ark of the Covenant, the Turin Shroud, and the Chalice as Christian relics.  Whether you believe it or not, it has had an important place in history.  Possessed by popes and Napoleon, it was one of the first items captured by Hitler in the War.  The Indiana Jones movies weren't so far off about German attempts to possess Christian icons.  That's me in the background.
