The Louvre
From the edge of the Tulieries Gardens, this is the northwest most piece of the Louvre, on the right side of the photo.  The modern day Louvre, was built int eh 1700's on the previous site of an old fortress and then a palace, parts of the crypt and moat which are now visible as part of the Louvre tour.  The Louvre was finishing up in 1999 from a $1 billion restoration, and my visits in 1990 and 1999 showed the dramatic makeover the museum has undergone.
