Helligaansdskirken
The great church on the pedestrian street is the Church of the Holy Ghost. Originally built in 1296. it burned in 1728. The structure was restored and reopened 4 years later. It was again restored in 1878 to its current splendor. It is one of the few churches I found open anywhere in Denmark, so I took advantage and give you this and the next two photographs. These are the organ pipes you are seeing, which was added in 1879, and was reconstructed in 1986. It had nearly 5000 pipes. The painting below it depicts the Annunciation of Mary, and dates to 1897.
