Esplanade, Helsinki
The Esplanade is a beautiful park in the middle of a boulevard that runs from Market Square by the waterfront to the Swedish Theater, at the beginning of Mannerheimintie- the city's "main" street.  The Esplanade was built in the 1800's, and when the country was divided on which language should prosper, proponents of Swedish walked on the north side, shown here, and proponents of Finnish walked on the south side.
