Sääksmäki Church
On the pleasant drive (if you take the back roads) from Tampere to Häme you will come near the town of Sääksmäki, which harbors this 15th century church.  First references of this as a religious center are from 1340, during a documented dispute with Pope Benedict XII, whom wanted more money under threat of excommunication (fine, I say, if they're going to be that way).  The church was enlarged several times, then destroyed by fire in 1929, then restored in 1933.
