Tammerkoski
Tammerkoski, or Tammer Rapids, bisects the city and connects two lakes. The beautiful setting is where Tampere sits. This quiescent stretch of river has been tamed by several small dams that are used to generate hydroelectricity. Tampere has been an industrial town, evident by the many brick smokestacks around the central area. I think they add a certain charm to it. Dallas, where I live, had a great pair of old smokestacks downtown, and tore them down to put in a new arena.
