Stockbridge, England
On a more recent visit, I passed through the town of Stockbridge between Salisbury and Winchester and spotted St. Peter's Church.  It's not nearly as old as the nearby cathedrals, dating from 'just' 1848, but has an old-world charm about it nonetheless.  England is dotted with these in the countryside, something you don't find much of in the US.
