Rock of Cashel, Ireland
The Rock of Cashel was a major center of power in Ireland for a thousand years.  It sits on a huge mound of rock just outside the town of Cashel, and was first occupied in the 4th century- so this is over 1600 years old (though the present building is somewhat newer, perhaps only a thousand years old!).
