Kilkenny Castle
Kilkenny Castle was built in 1192 by William Marshall, the son-in-law of Richard de Clare, or Strongbow.  It was purchased by the Butler family in 1391 and the descendants lived there until 1935.  In 1967 the castle was given to the city of Kilkenny.
