The view from the top is splendid- you can see here some of the ruins of the castle visible below.  Blarney Castle is not an easy climb, either, for all the folks that do it.  It's not so much the climb up the steep, spiral stairs that is bad.  It's the climb down the other steeper, tighter spiral stairs in the rain when you leave.  When I was leaving the castle, I commented to a person that was working there that I had used up all the luck I had gained by kissing the stone in getting down safely.  She replied:  "You don't kiss the stone for luck.  You kiss it for eloquence."  Oh well, so I didn't even know the type of charm it was supposed to be.
