Royal Castle, Warsaw, Poland
The Royal Castle was built between 1598 and 1619 when the capital was moved from Krakow to Warsaw.  It is early Baroque style, and was designed by several Italian architects.  This castle partially incorporated an earlier Mazovian castle.  The castle was completely destroyed in World War II, and was reconstructed painstakingly from 1971-1988.  In anticipation of the Nazi destruction, most of the art and artifacts were spirited off and hidden.  One thing that I am unsure of, however, are the giant ceiling murals.  I don't know if those are simply new versions of the old ones, or somehow they were able to preserve the originals by cutting them off.
