Park Guell, Barcelona, Spain
Park Guell was one of Antonio Gaudi's major projects.
The park sits on the crest of a hill and is nothing short of bizarre, by conventionally
notions. The house in the photo is sort of gingerbread-like.
Gaudi's projects were mostly organic in form, and highly decorated both
from afar and up close. Intricate tile patters adorn his works.
More than half of his life's works are in Barcelona, the remaining ones
being scattered around Catalonia, in the southeast part of Spain.
The park was constructed between 1900 and 1914, and is where Gaudi died.
His name is where the word "gaudy" in English derives from, with it's unfortunate
negative connotations.
