Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
We stayed at the far west end of Ipanema Beach, which is west from Copacabana Beach. There was a girl from Ipanema who walked by a certain bar every morning in the 1950's, thus inspiring the song
Girl From Ipanema
. The girl is a grandmother now. Shortly before I went to Brazil, my friend saw a documentary on her.
