Description
Ahu Akivi
Seven moai on the western coast- the only ones that face the sea.  All others face inland.
Ahu Nau Nau
On the north coast at Playa Anakena, four of these moai sport fashionable "top knots", red hats made of volcanic rock from a different part of the island than the moai themselves were made.
Ahu Vai Uri
Closest set of moai to the town of Hanga Roa, the only town on the island.
Ahu Ko Te Riku
The only moai with it's ceremonial eyes restored.  This is alongside Ahu Vai Uri on the edge of town.
Ahu Tahai
Also alongside Ahu Vai Uri, this one completes the set of standing moai just outside town.
Ahu Te Ihu
This fellow is on the west coast between Ahu Tahai and Ahu Akivi.
Moto Nui
These are the famed islands just off the coast from Orongo Crater, on the southwest tip of the island.  They played the central role in the latter-day cult of the Birdman, whereby the natives would swim out to the islands in a race to retrieve an egg of a sooty tern, bringing it back and scaling the cliffs of Orongo intact.
Rano Kau
This is the fantastically beautiful volcanic, just outside Hanga Roa.
Orongo
These houses were only used in conjunction with the Birdman cult activities, and were on the rim of the Rano Kau crater, squeezed between the rim and the cliffs to the sea below.
Ahu Tongariki
On the southeast side of the island, there are fifteen restored moai, plus this one off to the side.  My personal favorite photo.
Rano Raraku
This is the volcanic crater where the nearly 1000 moai were carved, located on the southeast corner of the island.  Most moai still reside there.
Rano Raraku
Among the many moai in the crater.

Easter Island Rainbow
My lucky shot.  This was near Ahu Tongariki on the south coast of the island.
