Going North to Vicuña, Chile
As I drove north from Ovalle, the road quickly turned into a dirt road.  And the vistas opened up.  I took a little dirt road from Ovalle to a town called Vicuña.  The dirt road was to be a "short cut"- scenic no doubt.  The two paved roads to get to Vicuña formed a triangle with this dirt road.  What I thought would be two hours or so turned into nearly six.  Partly thanks to several wrong turns- including the one on the previous photo.  Markings were not the best.  In short, I made it to Vicuña by dark- barely- and had a stunningly beautiful drive doing it.  So- lesson learned- take the road less traveled.
