Tabacon Hot Springs, Costa Rica
At the base of Arenal Volcano on the main east-west road through the area, sits the Tabacon Lodge and Hot Springs.  The hot springs are a side effect of the volcanic activity, and did not exist prior to 1968.  The resort has made good use of them.  There are about 15 pools of various temperatures from pretty hot to cool.  It is a playground, literally.  We relaxed here each night after the day's sightseeing.  You can sit in hot waterfalls, letting them beat the stress out of your back.  And the place is beautifully bedecked in gardens.  If you stay at the lodge, the hot springs are included.  This is looking up into a canopy of a dracaena-like plant.
