San Jose, Costa Rica
The first night in San Jose I had mixed feelings about the city.  The hotel was supposed to be in the "historic" Amon district, and the first thing we noticed was prostitutes and a general run down look, and the hotel staff warning us not to go out at night.  Apparently there are better areas, and certainly there are good things to go see- the Museum of Jade being one that I would have loved to have seen had we had another day to spend in Costa Rica.  But, as it was, we didn't get into San Jose until dusk the day before we left.  As a result, with but a couple of exceptions, I had about one hour to take most of the pictures in this gallery that are in San Jose.

This is a monument in Central Park, smack in the center of the city, as its name implies.  It's not too big, but on one side sits the beautiful Metropolitan Cathedral.
