San Jose, Costa Rica
El Pueblo is a tourist area, primarily, that was not far from our hotel.  We asked where we could go safely with a whole evening left to spend somewhere, and this was the hotel's recommendation.  It did pass the time, between souvenir shops and restaurants, but I would have preferred something more indigenous.  This was pricey, to say the least, as well as a bit formulaic.  We did make friends with a stray cat that nobody seemed to own.
