Road to Arenal
, Costa Rica
North of San Ramon the drive becomes prettier and prettier. Make sure to enjoy the view, and although the road is paved, make sure to avoid the potholes. I'm not sure of the status of the forest here- it might be primary rain forest, i.e., that which has not been cut down, or it could be secondary, i.e., regenerated, but not as diverse. Nonetheless, it was pretty. What you can't see is that at my feet the side of the road is covered in impatiens, a beautiful flower that is commonly planted in gardens in the summers in the US. In fact, so many garden plants and house plants in the US grow freely in the wild all over Costa Rica.
