Monteverde Sky Walk, Costa Rica
Several things you should do whilst in Monteverde are take a canopy tour.  To be sure, they are a mixed bag.  I would not take one of the zip line tours, where you thrillingly dangle from a line and zip from tree to tree in the jungle.  Sound fun?  I'm sure it is, but remember where you are and why you came.  If you want a thrill, go to Cancun or Six Flags over Your State.  You want to see and enjoy nature, take the slow route.  The problem is that in the Monteverde area (and a few others), these zip line "rides" have popped up all over.  And while they offer a thrill, they are actually pretty stupid for multiple reasons:

1)  Other tourists (hopefully not you) go "Yeehaw" as the zip across and enjoy rush after rush of adrenaline.  Think about this for a moment- you scare off the animals that I assume you came to see.

2)  You are traveling pretty fast, and unless you are an expert at this, you are likely focusing on the tree you are rushing towards.  Didn't you come up here to see the canopy?  You are not likely to see much using this method.

With all that said, take the Sky Walk.  You can go at your own pace, it's cheaper, and you can dawdle all you want in the canopy and check out the flora.  Alas, there is a zip-line tour very nearby, and you still will likely not see too many animals as a result.  At least you can see hundreds of bromeliad and orchid plant species.  We could hear the zippers screaming nearby, unfortunately, from time to time.

This was the first bridge we came to in the canopy walk.  It was the shortest of the bridges.
