Mayan Ruins, Chichen Itza, Mexico
This picture was taken at the ruins of Chichen
Itza, about 3 hours west of Cancun. I had just climbed the steep,
91-step pyramid that is the prime attraction at the site. The baseline
between the left and right pictures here is about 10 feet, or about 40
times the distance between your eyes. The full resolution picture, as seen
in my slideshow, has a very fake feel, like you are looking at a model
train set or an architect's model, which was the intention of this photo.
The point at which your eye says it's infinity is several miles out. The
details in the trees aren't visible in this scan, but you can see the clouds
quite a ways back.
