Mayan Ruins, Chichén Itzá, Mexico
The great pyramid at Chichen Itza- it's 91 knee-deep steps to the top.  If you add up all four sides' steps, plus the top platform as an extra, you get 365- the number of days in a year.  On the spring and autumn equinoxes, the shadow cast by the rough, jagged corners of the pyramid match up with a snake's head at the base of one of the stairs to form an curvy snake's body up the pyramid.  They Mayans knew quite a bit about astronomy, had a detailed calendar and even knew details about Venus' orbit.
