| If you are
visiting this site and came to this page from outside my
3D Photography
web page- welcome! I've added this page to my site to show you
the best of the topic of Castles, and to explain to non-3D oriented
visitors how this gallery of images works. Below are links to
some of my best photographs of Castles, in 2D.
Below that are links to the 3D galleries, and also
links to the rest of my 3D site explaining how to view them.
Enjoy! If you like, selected high
quality photographs from this site are available in the store- click
on the store to the right. All pictures that are for sale or
are part of a picture set, will soon be noted as such and contain a
link back to the store as well.

I have been a lucky person in that I have been able to
travel a lot for my job for most of my adult life. I have worked for
Texas Instruments, which enabled travel all over the United States, and at
one point, sent me to live in Germany for six months. Many of the
continental European shots were taken during that 1992-1993 time. I
vacationed in the UK in 1990, and there are also many shots from there in
these galleries as well. And, finally, I've been working for Nokia
since 1997. They send me to Finland on a very regular basis. I
have canvassed most of Northern Europe since then. And, with the
frequent flier miles earned, I have been able to travel south and west of
the US as well.
Below are a collection of my best castle and fortress
shots, grouped by country or region. This is to give you a
two-dimensional overview of the places I have traveled to. Below
that, is a simple map showing the collections of three-dimensional castle
photos that I have taken. On the left, you can take a shortcut to
those galleries. In addition, there are other links that will take
you to my main 3D web site,
www.3dphoto.net, and there you can find instructions on how to view
them (or click on How to View on the left).

England
The Tower of London is an ancient fortress that started
out small, and was added to repeatedly over the millennia.

Ireland
Nothing beats driving around the Irish countryside, except
more driving around the Irish countryside. Less
populated than England, you get more of a medieval feeling
here.

Harlech Castle in Wales is in a stunning location- on a

than along the Rhine River. Part 1 is northern and
eastern Germany, and Part 2 is Bavaria. (Click on left half

Denmark
Denmark is full of castles, churches, and a history that
is not emphasized enough in some texts. I've only
scratched the surface here, with a few Castles on Zealand and
one on Funen.

Below is a map of Europe. Click on the region of
the island or the text labels below it to see a particular group of
photos. If you are not sure what 3D Photography is all about, then I
recommend you visit my 3D
Photography site for more information. If you need instructions
on how to view them, please visit my
Viewing Guide for
instructions. This site primarily uses the Cross-Eyed method for
viewing. In the future, I will be adding anaglyph images (red/blue
glasses) as well to some of the better images, such as those seen above.
See my Glossary for a
definition of terms.
This
site supports the JPS, or JPEG Stereo, image standard. If your
browser has Java enabled (check your preferences), then you should not
have a problem viewing them. The better images are in this format
(25-30%), and they are higher resolution, so will take longer to load.
However, you also have a large choice of viewing preferences, including
anaglyph, cross-eyed, parallel, and LCD shutter glasses. The viewing
applet is provided for free by
Andreas
Petersik. All images on this site that are in this format have a
yellow border around them to warn you of the slightly longer download
times associated with the larger file format.
