Olavinlinna Finland's most beautiful castle (yes, Finland). Built by the Swedes, and modified by the Russians, this is a splendid castle in eastern Finland in the town of Savonlinna. |

Turku Castle Also built by the Swedes, this is in the coastal town of Turku. |

Egeskov Slot Denmark's most beautiful castle, complete with a moat. Located on the island of Fyn, not too far from Odense. |
![]() |
Holckenhavn Slot Also located on Fyn, I gave this one high marks because it is inhabited, and they gave decent access to the grounds. Not marked on any maps, it's just south of Nyborg. |

Holckenhavn Slot A second shot of this castle, this shows the moat. I like it because it is so pastoral and pleasant. |

Beaumaris Castle On the Isle of Anglesey, this is one of the best Welsh castles, complete with a moat. |

Blarney Castle This is one of the most famous, due to the Blarney Stone, which sits on the top of the castle. Most of Ireland is lush and green, and this shot conveys that pretty well. |

Dublin Castle Located in central Dublin, this was the best part of it as castles go. |

Kilchurn Castle Located on Loch Awe outside Glasgow, we had this castle to ourselves. It locale itself is stunning. |

St. Andrews Castle In the town where golf was invented, there's not much left to this one. But, what's left makes great 3D. |

Riveaulx Abbey Just north of York, these ruins are awesome to walk among. Replete with flying buttresses, you get a feeling that if something had not gone horribly wrong, it would still be standing. |

Tower of London One of the more famous fortresses, many people were imprisoned here and beheaded, including a famous wife of Henry the Eighth. |
![]() |
Neuschwanstein The castle that inspired Walt Disney and nearly bankrupted a nation. King Ludwig went on a fantasy castle-building binge, culminating in this beauty. Never finished, it is nonetheless one of the most fantastic castles you'll ever visit. |

San Marino This fortress rings the top of Mount Titano, which is more or less all there is to the country of San Marino- one of the world's smallest. |
![]() |
Tallinn This old capital of Estonia has an old section that was walled in by a fortification, of which this is a part of. |

Ciechanow Castle About a 90-minute drive north of Warsaw, Poland, this castle was built around 1420. |
