Kilchurn Castle
Built in the 15th century on an island at the north end of Loch Awe, Kilchurn stood until 1879 when it was destroyed by a powerful storm.  It is second perhaps only to Dunnottar in it's stunning location.

Dunnottar Castle
Dunnottar Castle has perhaps the most stunning location of any castle in Scotland.  Built in the 13th century by the Earl of Marischal, it withstood an eight-month seige by Oliver Cromwell and as such played an important role in Scottish History by saving the Scottish Crown Jewels.

Craigievar Castle
This castle was built in 1626 by William Forbes, and the fairytale structure has remained unchanged ever since.  Even the ornate plaster ceilings are still intact.

Edinburgh
The centerpiece of Edinburgh is the castle, which has existed for about 1000 years on top of this extinct volcano.  The castle contains the Scottish Crown Jewels, protected originally by Dunnottar during the Cromwell siege.

Urquhart Castle
Situated on Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle was built in the 12th century and destroyed late in the 15th century to prevent the Jacobites from using it.  Most fabricated photos of the Loch Ness Monster originate from here.

Castle Stalker
I don't know much about Castle Stalker except that it sits on an island in Loch Creran on the west coast between Oban and Fort William.
