Harlech Castle
The third in a frenetic series of castles built by Edward I, Harlech was constructed in 1283.  It sits perched on top of a rocky outcropping, and has great views of the sea and Snowdon mountains to the north.

Beaumaris Castle
This was the last castle built by Edward I.  It was finished in 1298, and the name, Beau Marais, means Beautiful Marsh.  It is on the island of Anglesey, and has a complete moat surrounding it.

Caernarfon Castle
Caernarfon was also built by Edward I in 1283 to dominate Wales.  The castle is on the left, and part of the wall that surrounded the old city are visible on the right.  Prince Charles was vested as the Prince of Wales here in 1969.

Conwy Castle
And finally, yet another castle begun by Edward I in 1283.  It is located very close to the other castles, Beaumaris and Caernarfon being less than a 30-minute drive away.
