Canterbury Cathedral
This most famous of churches was started in 1070 by the Norman archbishop Lafranc, and it was added to for five centuries.  Canterbury was the birthplace of Christianity in England, as in 597 St. Augustine came here from Rome to convert the pagan Saxons.  Also, Thomas Becket was murdered here, and the church contains his tomb.
