Köln Cathedral
One of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, and certainly it's grandest, it dwarfs everything around it.  Started in 1248, but unusually finished in 1880, this also had one of the longest construction periods due partially to it's scope and to other events that interrupted it's construction.  Go to Köln if for nothing else than to see this cathedral.
