Mainz
Mainz was the most pleasant surprise.  Three of us were touring the Rhine by car and we stopped for the night in Mainz.  There is much to see in this town- the Dom is a six-towered beauty that was started in 975, but finished in the 11th to the 13th centuries.  The ghostly church is ChristusKirche, just two blocks from the hotel where we stayed.
