Cuernavaca Churches
Cuernavaca is one of Mexico's secrets- visited by well-off Mexican tourists, but not so much from us norté americanos.  I went there with a friend to view the 1991 solar eclipse, and was rewarded with 7 minutes of unobscured totality at the nearby ruins of Xochicalco.  In the city itself are many churches, of which the most significant is the cathedral compound Recinto de la Catedral.  Part fortress and part church, it was started in 1526 and was one of the earliest Christian missions in Mexico.
