Kitt Peak National Observatory, Arizona
The McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope is the strange one of the bunch.  It stands imposingly on the east side of the peak, and the angled part goes as far underground as it does above ground.  The sun comes in at the top and is reflected down the length of the telescope deep underground.  It then is reflected back upwards and various instruments peel off some of the light along the way for various observations.
