General Sherman, Sequoia National Park, California
This is the most massive tree on the planet- General Sherman. It is well over 1000 years old and is king of the Sequoia's. Because the trees are slow growing, they don't recover quickly from man's plundering of the forests and pollution. National parks like this provide some of the last bastions of hope for these trees. To the north in California there are forests of the related Redwood Tree.
