The road through the park is the again aptly-named Going To The Sun Road. As you drive on the road, you will be stopping your car and getting out to enjoy the view about every three minutes. You cannot help it. This park above all the others offers the most stunning scenery per mile (or per kilometer, however you measure it).
A really good trip to make is to work your way through the park east to west, then head north into British Columbia. There's a great town called Fernie that is buried in the mountains. From there you can to back east over the Crow's Nest Pass (see main gallery on Western Canada), and come down into Waterton National Park from the North. Of course, if you have an extended amount of time available, Calgary is a couple of hours to the north, and the wonderful collection of Banff and Jasper and others are nearby. This area of the Rockies are the most beautiful of the chain in North America.
Wild Goose Island, the little island in the picture above, is the most photographed spot in the park. Search the Internet and you'll find quite a few references to it. Click on the button below for more views inside Glacier.
