West Thumb Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Yellowstone Lake is a pleasant lake, when not covered in smoke.  There were some fires in the park when we were there, particularly near the lake.  At the Lake Hotel, twenty miles to the north, the view across the lake was obscured.  Here on West Thumb, though you could still see the haze, the view was much clearer. The white is not sand or snow, but minerals from the constant upwelling of hard, mineral-laden water.
