Mount St. Helens National Monument, Washington
These dead trees litter the park for many miles.  Most of the trees anywhere near Mt. St. Helens were killed in the eruption.  Trees closer than this were snapped over like matchsticks.  Spirit Lake is clogged with the trunks of dead trees.  This is virtually made a wasteland, which has made it interesting for scientists and environmentalists to observe how nature renews itself.
