Wizard Island, Crater Lake National Park, Oregon
Six-mile wide Crater Lake, south central Oregon, was formed by the eruption and collapse of Mt. Mazama about 7000 years ago. Mt Saint Helens eruption is a small earth belch compared to this baby! The waters are crystal clear and a startling, beautiful deep blue. Wizard Island is a cinder cone that formed at a later date. Take the very scenic drive around the lake...lots of overlooks...then, finish your day with a boat ride on the beautiful water.
