Carlsbad Caverns National Monument, New Mexico
Stalactites hang down and stalagmites grow up.  Each is produced by eons of constantly dripping water in already existing caves.  The caves were formed by underground rivers millions of years ago, and formations like these took hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years to form.
