The Dallas Arboretum
The Arboretum is located in eastern Dallas on White Rock Lake, probably one of the most scenic areas of the city.  No matter what time of year it is, the Arboretum has something to show off.  As you will see in this spread, it's not just flowers, but landscaping and from time to time, art.  They showcase themed art from different artists.  One other note- Roger Clinton, the brother of the former US President, was married here in the 90's.

In 1994, the Arboretum put on this exhibit of giant insects, a dragonfly, praying mantis, and and ant, in these pictures.  The ant was giant- I could have walked under it.

In 1996, the Arboretum put on this display of tree houses.  The one on the right was my favorite.  It's a living room up in a tree, with furniture made from plants, and a TV high up on a pole.  Most of the tree houses, though, did not pass my test- you have to be able to actually climb up in it.  Many were decorative only and not capable of supporting weight.

To the left is a general view of the grounds, and to the right is a view towards north Dallas over White Rock Lake.
